Wildly romantic!
The hike starts in front of the market town hall.Past the Bucklwehluck'n (crawl-through stone that cures rheumatism and back pain), the "Hoanl" (grove with rock crevices and cave), the nature park playground, kindergarten, primary school and the Heimkehrerkreuz. Through a settlement with wonderful panoramic views as far as the Alps. Past meadows, wayside shrines, chapels and cobblestones (group of hedges with stone remnants).
Via the wild and romantic Käfermühlbach valley with its moss-covered rock faces, the almost gorge-like character along the course of the stream with its primeval forest.
The Saxenegg ruins (built in 1297) can be reached from here, off the hiking trail. Remains of the walls and an imposing moat around the former castle site can still be seen.
Ascent to the idyllic Elmböck-Alm (holiday apartments) past the access road to the disc golf course. A visit here is absolutely worthwhile and guarantees fun. Continue to one of the largest pitch oil stones in the Mühlviertel at the Dechtelgruber chapel.
Downhill through the forest into the valley and then the ascent to the village. Lined by Mühlviertel stone formations that will amaze you with their weathering, meadows and hedges.
All year round, but no snow clearance
