Destination: 4802 Ebensee
information: Waldbrandschutz-Verordnung 2026
Time period: 13.04.2026 - 01.10.2026

Description: ORDINANCE of the Gmunden District Authority from April 13, 2026 to October 31, 2026 for protection against forest fires (Forest Fire Protection Ordinance) for the district of Gmunden.

On the basis of § 41 para. 1 Forest Act 1975, Federal Law Gazette No. 440/1975 as amended by Federal Law Gazette I No. 144/2023, is decreed:

§1, para. 1: In the forest areas of all municipalities of the district of Gmunden and in their hazard areas, any lighting of fires and smoking is prohibited.

The best place to start the hike is from the left parking lot at the end of Bezirksstraße. The trail follows a wide, gravel forest road along the wild and romantic Offensee to the Seeau snack bar, where swimmers gather on a spacious meadow in the summer (no dogs allowed). The view across the lake to the Eibenbergschneid is magnificent. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the left parking lot to this point. Right on the lake’s southern shore, there is a narrow hiking trail that leads to the snack bar. You should only take this route in dry conditions; otherwise, it’s better to walk around the “Seeau” on the forest road. Wheelchair users must stay on the road at all times, as the path along the lake is too soft.
Once you reach the right-hand parking lot (private property) next to the former hunting lodge, walk a short distance across the meadow to reach the Offensee district road; follow this road back to the starting point of the Offensee loop.

Walking time: Around Lake Offensee: approx. 1 1/2 hours

Refreshments: Available exclusively at the Seeau snack bar (open only during the summer months and when the weather is nice; see www.offenseeau.at)

The best start of the tour is at the parking lot. The path leads along a broad forest road to the "snack station" Seeau. In summer many persons enjoy the possibility of swimming here. The hike to this place lasts approximately 30 minutes. At the southern shore there is a path, which leads to a forest road. The forest road leads to the parking lot which is situated at the end of the district road Offensee-Bezirksstraße. You walk back to the starting-point of the tour Offensee-Runde via this road.
