Märchenweg zur Katzenwoferlklause

You can follow the trail of legends and fairy tales on the walk to the Katzenwoferlklause.
A hermit is said to have lived there with his cats. You can find out why and what is said to have happened on the display boards along the fairytale trail!

The first part of the trail is identical to the hiking trail to the Calvary Church. You start from the town hall square, follow the main road to the "Kaiserbrücke" bridge over the Langbathbach stream, then turn right to the crossroads in Marktgasse. The Soleweg begins above Café Verdi, which you follow for around 100 metres until the first steps on the right lead to the Kalvarienberg. Climb the first steps, then follow the other steps until you reach the Calvary Chapel at the Stations of the Cross. The view of Ebensee and Lake Traunsee is well worth seeing.
After the last Calvary chapel, you come to a clearing a little later, where you continue to the left.
Passing the junction of the hiking trail to the Feuerkogel, you reach a beautiful vantage point with a view of the Langbathtal valley, the mountain cemetery and Lake Traunsee. If you continue to follow the fairytale signs, you will reach a clearing at the end of the story, where the Katzenwoferlklause is located and is the setting for the legend.
You can either return along the same path or walk downhill over 12 bridges spanning small ditches to the Schulerberg and the valley station of the Feuerkogel cable car. You return to the village centre via Langbathstraße.
