Zwergerlweg

On the Zwergerlweg in Steinbach am Attersee, a nice path through the forest, many dwarfs and other fairy tale characters such as Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf or a witch in a mill are waiting for curious little visitors.

This family walk through the forest starts at the Auboden car park in Kaisigen. To get there, turn right before the Hausmühle mill and follow the road uphill until it ends in the car park. From there, take hiking trail no. 3 towards the field. The Hansl-Mühle dwarf signpost points the way. Following the dwarves and fairytale figures, you hike to the village of Feld  from there you return via the Zwergerlweg trail.

If you want to walk this trail as a circular route in about an hour over just under 2 km, it is best to start at the Steinbacher Hausmühle mill. From the mill, walk directly uphill along the old Großalmstraße road. Once at the top, take the first right onto the gravel path and follow this until you reach the Zwergerlweg signposts. After the Zwergerlweg, turn right down into the village of Kaisigen and follow the little-used road down to the Hausmühle starting point. On the circular tour, you will pass camera sheep and, if you are lucky, you might even spot a zebra, donkeys or alpacas.

The Zwergerlweg is not suitable for pushchairs as there are narrow sections, steps and roots on the path through the forest.
