This beautiful circular trail leads from the Attersee over the Buchberg summit into the Attergau and back again.
We would like to point out that cycling on the Buchberg is prohibited! The starting point of this tour is at the Atterseehalle, where you orient yourself along the parallel road in the direction of the forest. At the edge of the forest the trail begins, which first leads along the Schlossbergrunde. At the next junction, keep left and follow the path until you reach the forest road. Here you go a bit to the right on the forest road until a sign shows you the way to go. Here you can decide whether to choose the steep ascent "Jagastüberl" hard to the left or stay on the forest road, which also leads to the summit.
If you stay on the forest road, you follow it for a while until after a while it continues to the left on a hiking trail. Follow this path, then take a 180 degree turn to the left before climbing the last section to the summit via serpentines to the right. One last stretch to the right, then along the forest road to the left and now you have made it.
After a rest at the summit at the Jagastüberl hut with a great view of Lake Attersee and the Höllengebirge mountains behind it, continue along the forest road (here you can again decide whether to go left or right, as both paths merge again) in the direction of Berg im Attergau. After a while you meet a crossing path at Berg im Attergau, which leads to Alkersdorf on the left. Not far from the highway, you now walk on the road for a bit, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Attergau.
The path continues to Palmsdorf on the south side of the Buchberg. Here a magnificent view of the Höllengebirge and the Attersee awaits you. In Palmsdorf you turn left and hike over the Buchber ridge to the Schlossberg. Here you can see the foundations of a fortress, which was built in the Middle Ages. Then turn right again through the forest and along the Sonnleithenweg trail back to the starting point at the Atterseehalle.
