The valley of glass
4890 Weißenkirchen im Attergau
We start our tour with a visit to the glass museum in Weißenkirchen followed with a tour around the Freudenthal. The tour continues with an easy walk along the theme trail on gravel and meadow paths, following the Freudenthaler stream. You'll get a detailed explanation about glass and hear exciting stories about the importance of glass and compelling historical stories.
Optional: In Freudenthal there is an Advent Bazaar and the annual glass-blowers festival with demonstrations of glass blowing and artists, culinary and entertainment program as well as an orginal copy of a Roman glass oven. Refreshments are offered in the Freudenthal Inn and in Kramer Wirt in Weißkirchen im Attergau.
We start at the Museum of Glass in Weißenkirchen where we get an impression of the wide range of products that were made at the former "Glashütte Freudenthal" until 1942.
The tour, which is approximately 2.5 km long, is organized into six main themes from the magic of glass to the interaction of nature and medicine.
Children will love the several action spots such as the turned around aquarium, the rainbow house or the dragonfly swing.
The Valley of Glass is awaiting you with its seasonable charm changing like the landscape in which it is embedded.
This path is suitable for pushchairs from the parking lot in the middle (station 7 Verkehres Aquarium). The area from the Abzweig car park down to the glass bridge is very steep in parts and therefore not suitable for prams.
