The partly still visible witnesses of the past are connected with the former jurisdiction of the Salzburg parish court of Mattsee and the former Bavarian parish court of Braunau.
The 28 km long barrier-free Lochen execution site trail leads along important legal monuments in the municipality of Lochen and is the first themed trail of its kind in Austria to deal intensively with the dark chapters of our history.

The path of a delinquent:
The legal history of the former Salzburg-Bavarian border region is explained on eight information boards. The last victim of the execution was Magdalena Bischofroiderin, who was put to the sword on 8 February 1762 at Astätt. The young girl was beheaded after stealing a handkerchief. The original beheading column is intended to be a memorial for the protection of human rights!
