Description:

From Kleinreifling, the path leads through the Hammergraben and then steadily uphill on the old alpine path past the Prenklalm (hunting hut), Sonnrißhütte to the Niglalm or Viehtaleralm. Over the alpine pasture, it continues to the Bärenkogel and on a forest road over the Menaueralm to the Schüttbauernalm.

Directions:

The path initially follows the road into the Hammergraben, then branches left on the old alpine path steadily uphill through the forest past the Prenklalm (hunting hut) and Sonnrißalm to the Niglalm or Viehtaleralm. From here it continues over the alpine pasture along the forest edge to the Bärenkogel. A comfortable forest road leads to the Menaueralm (hunting hut) and after a short hike over the hill you reach the Schüttbauernalm (1,070 m) with a magnificent view of the Gesäuse mountains.

We recommend traveling by car to Niglalm/Viehtaleralm and from there on foot to the Schüttbauernalm (1.5 hours, 247 m elevation gain).


A detour via the Bodenwies (1,540 m) is rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view over the Kalkalpen National Park to the Totes Gebirge, Haller Mauern, Gesäuse mountains, and Ennstal Alps.

Tip:
We recommend traveling by car to the Niglalm/Viehtaleralm and from there on foot to the Schüttbauernalm (1.5 hours, 247 m elevation gain) or via the Bodenwies (1,540 m) with magnificent panoramic views over the Kalkalpen National Park to the Totes Gebirge, Haller Mauern, Gesäuse mountains, and Ennstal Alps.
