The hiking trail leads via the Way of the Cross to St Peter's to the Catholic double church. Through the Bockau to the forest devotion at the Kreuzfelsen past the Sieben-Schmerzen-Weg back to Freistadt
The tranquil circular route leads to inner peace and inspiration via the Freistadt Way of the Cross with its attractively designed stations to the listed late Gothic twin church of St Peter, which towers above the rooftops of Freistadt. Here you will find three early Baroque altars from the 17th century, surrounded by lavishly proliferating, gilded acanthus frames. The main altar depicts the Denial of St Peter, while the side altars bear images of the Crucifixion and the Assumption. The gravestones in the church and the baptismal font are reminiscent of the Romantic period. The ceiling consists of a ribbed vault. A remarkable early Gothic gravestone from around 1300 can also be found in the church. After a prayer, the path leads through the Bockau to the forest devotion, past the Kreuzfelsen rock via the Sieben-Schmerzen-Weg to Freistadt.
