Description: Due to storm damage, the active rest area in Bad Wimsbach-Neyhdarting with the hammocks has unfortunately been damaged and the path is difficult to pass. Together with the market town and the property owner, we are in the process of repairing the damage and restoring the rest area.

We ask for your understanding and increased caution!

Where the Alm flows into the Traun, the path towards the inner Almtal begins.

On a well-signposted hiking trail, mostly right next to the alp, you can experience a fascinating flora and fauna away from the main road.

The journey begins on the well-paved paths where the Alm river flows in Traun, near Fischlham - Edt near Lambach. The many Almwellen - loungers invite you to take a break in particularly beautiful places.
At the hammocks - active rest area, it's just wonderful to let your soul dangle. At the edge of the only conglomerate gorge on the Alm, you can also see very well how the river has carved its way through the landscape over thousands of years.
Shortly before Vorchdorf, the path under the bridge leads steeply uphill to the town center. A variety of cultural highlights, shops and places to stop for refreshments await you there.
The path then leads along the Laudach to the leisure rest area or children's playground.
From there you can reach the Vorchdorf train station in just 5 minutes on foot.

Dear hikers, the terrain in the Almkraftwerks Mühltal area is being redesigned to improve the river ecology (natural migration of organisms and fish). We ask for your understanding that you temporarily have to accept a small detour. The diversion is signposted! A map for this section can be found under more information.

How to get to the Almtal (to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting):

We recommend travelling by public transport!

By train: to Wels station with IC trains on the Westbahn line (ÖBB and Westbahn) (line 101), then change to the regional trains in the direction of Attnang-Puchheim to Lambach station. Change to the ‘Vorchdorfer Bahn’ from Stern & Hafferl (line 160) or from Gmunden with the Traunseetram Stern & Hafferl (line 161) via Vorchdorf Eggenberg, change to the Vorchdorfer Bahn to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting station.

The railway also runs more or less parallel to the Almuferweg to Vorchdorf station and can be used as support in between.

By bus:
OÖVV bus route 504 Wels - Lambach - Bad Wimsbach - Roitham

With the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 80 from Bad Wimsbach station to Almspitz or Vorchdorf station. Vorchdorf train station
Please call the taxi centre at least 1 hour in advance on 050-422 422 and order.

Bike & Hike, arrival by bike:
From Wels or Linz on the R 4 Traunradweg or R6 Römerradweg, or from Gmunden R 4 Traunradweg or from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt on the R 6 Römerradweg to Lambach, via the Traunkraftwerk Lambach and then to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting. Likewise via the cycle connection from R 11 Almtalradweg from Almsee via Pettenbach, briefly onto the R 13 Traunviertlerradweg to Einsiedlung and then via Vorchdorf to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting. Either directly to the Almspitz or e.g. to the Almeggbrücke as an entry point.

By car:
Motorway A1 Westautobahn Exit 207 Vorchdorf at the roundabout - direction Lambach to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, approx. 7 km
Bundesstraße B1 to Lambach - to Stadl Paura, then towards Vorchdorf to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting

Parking options: at Lambach railway station (2.5 km) from the Almspitz or at Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting railway station (1 km) from the entrance in the Almegg area.

The Almuferweg "Genuss am Almfluss" begins at the Almspitz (Fischlham near Edt bei Lambach), where the Alm flows into the Traun. You walk upstream along the Alm river towards Vorchdorf and on to the Almsee lake. The path is well signposted.
