Description: Due to storm damage, the active rest area in Bad Wimsbach-Neyhdarting with the hammocks has unfortunately been damaged and the path is difficult to pass. Together with the market town and the property owner, we are in the process of repairing the damage and restoring the rest area.

We ask for your understanding and increased caution!

Where the Alm flows into the Traun, the path towards the inner Almtal begins.
On a well-signposted hiking trail, mostly right next to the alp, you can experience a fascinating flora and fauna away from the main road.

The journey begins on the well-paved paths where the Alm river flows in Traun, near Fischlham - Edt near Lambach. The many Almwellen - loungers invite you to take a break in particularly beautiful places.
At the hammocks - active rest area, it's just wonderful to let your soul dangle. At the edge of the only conglomerate gorge on the Alm, you can also see very well how the river has carved its way through the landscape over thousands of years.
Shortly before Vorchdorf, the path under the bridge leads steeply uphill to the town center. A variety of cultural highlights, shops and places to stop for refreshments await you there.
The path then leads along the Laudach to the leisure rest area or children's playground.
From there you can reach the Vorchdorf train station in just 5 minutes on foot.

Dear hikers, the terrain in the Almkraftwerks Mühltal area is being redesigned to improve the river ecology (natural migration of organisms and fish). We ask for your understanding that you temporarily have to accept a small detour. The diversion is signposted! A map for this section can be found under more information.

How to get to the Almtal (to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting):

We recommend that you travel by public transport!

by train: to Wels station with IC trains on the Westbahn line (ÖBB and Westbahn) (line 101), then change to regional trains towards Attnang-Puchheim to Lambach station. Change to the "Vorchdorfer Bahn" from Stern & Hafferl (line 160) to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting train station.
For the journey home from Grünau im Almtal with the Almtalbahn (line 153) again to Wels station with connection to the IC trains on the western railway line.

by bus:
OÖVV bus line 504 Wels - Lambach - Bad Wimsbach - Roitham
OÖVV bus route 533 Almsee - Grünau - Gmunden

with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 80 from Bad Wimsbach railway station to the Almspitz or Vorchdorf Railway station.
For both routes, call the taxi centre at least 1 hour in advance on 050-422 422 or order on the otaxi app.

Bike & Hike, arrival by bike:
Coming from Wels or Linz on the R 4 Traunradweg or R6 Römerradweg, or from Gmunden R 4 Traunradweg or from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt on the R 6 Römerradweg to Lambach, via the Traunkraftwerk Lambach and then to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting. Likewise via the bike connection from the R 11 Almtalradweg from Almsee via Pettenbach, briefly on the R 13 Traunviertlerradweg to Einsiedlung and then via Vorchdorf to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting. Either directly to the Almspitz or e.g. to the Almeggbrücke as an entry point.

by car:
Autobahn A1 Westautobahn exit 207 exit Vorchdorf at the roundabout - direction Lambach to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, approx. 7 km
Federal road B1 to Lambach - to Stadl Paura, there towards Vorchdorf to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting

Parking: at Lambach train station (2.5 km) from Almspitz or at Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting train station (1 km) from the entrance to the Almegg area. Please use the Traunstein Taxi.

The Almuferweg begins at the Almspitz (Fischlham near Edt near Lambach), where the Alm flows into the Traun. Along the alpine river you go upstream towards Vorchdorf. The path is well signposted.
