From the starting point of the gorge trail at the Stefanie Bridge inn (Roidinger), follow along the Steyr, past the confluence of the Krumme Steyrling, further along the gorge rim and then down to the natural spectacle Rinnende Mauer. There are several options for the return route.
Trail: 479, 479a, 479b
Variant: From the Gradau parking lot on Haunoldmühlstraße to the forest edge, then through the Aigner Schacher to the gorge. About 50 meters before the decommissioned cable car hut, go right down to the gorge. Return via the cable car hut along the gorge rim upstream to the gorge view and from the confluence of the Krumme Steyrling back through the forest to the parking lot.
Directions:From the starting point of the gorge trail at the Stefanie Bridge inn (Roidinger), go a bit upstream to reach the Steyr in a curve. Along the Steyr you hike in the forest partly under overhanging conglomerate walls to the confluence of the crystal-clear Krumme Steyrling. Cross the footbridge and continue along the Steyr, later the path leads to the gorge rim. After a descent to the Steyr you reach the Rinnende Mauer - a natural spectacle worth seeing and experiencing. For the return route, go back to the gorge rim and then there are several options.
Variant:
From the Gradau parking lot on Haunoldmühlstraße initially westward on farm roads to the forest edge, then north along the forest or later through the forest ("Aigner Schacher") near the extraction and operating area of Bernegger Bau GmbH to a road and trail junction (about 30 minutes). Keep left here heading west and through a beech forest to the gorge (5 minutes). About 50 meters before a small wooden building (old, decommissioned cable car hut) turn right on a narrow path down into the gorge and in a few minutes further to the Rinnende Mauer (dead end!). Return from the cable car hut along the Steyr gorge rim upstream to the impressive view ("gorge view") of the mouth of the Krumme Steyrling from the cliff edge (about 40 minutes). From there 20 minutes through the forest back to the parking lot.
Tip:Take plenty of time for the natural spectacle Rinnende Mauer: The conglomerate walls on the steep drop of the Steyr are an impressive geomorphological feature of the Alpine region. The namesake of this natural monument is the phenomenon of a drip spring, which becomes a fine curtain of water over a length of about 50m. Furthermore, this area is a "plant sociological el Dorado" of completely different species on a very small space.Safety guidelines:
