From Oberland the trail leads under the federal road and towards the NW steeply through light mixed forest to the summit. From there continue on trail E03, down through the Kleingschnaidt and at the Thalhof on the Dornbergweg via Gaflenz back to the starting point.

Variants:
- This summit tour can be extended to a challenging circular hike to Spindeleben on trail E03.
- Alternatively, an unmarked hiking trail leads from Gaflenz over the Sonnberg to the Weißen Kreuz.
Climate-friendly to the National Park Region - railway station Gaflenz or Oberland: By train you can reach the starting point for this hike in about 2 hours from Linz and in about 2.5 hours from Vienna.Safety guidelines:
No gastronomy along the way, so bring drinks and a snack if needed.
