Along a side road the hike leads to Hackbauer and then quite steeply to the ridge, over which you first reach the Stone Hunter (1,185 m) and then the Schieferstein summit (1,206 m).
Hiking trail: E71
Directions:The path first runs along a side road to Hackbauer, from where hiking trail E71 turns right. The path soon becomes quite steep and ends in a beautiful ridge hike (with a ladder!) from Hackermauer to the Stone Hunter (1,185 m) or to the Schieferstein summit (1,206 m).
Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view into the Gesäuse mountains and the Alpine foothills as far as over the Danube.
Return follows the same path for a while until the path to the right leads towards Gscheid. Follow this up to the next junction to the left. At E72 / 476 you reach the road again, which you follow downhill shortly to the junction of the hiking trail towards Nagelschmiede. Return via the Nagelschmiedweg to the parking lot.
Variants:
By car to the climbing parking lot near Hackbauer, time saved: approx. 2 hours (round trip)
Descent to Reichraming and return to Losenstein by bus/train
"Crossing" via Gscheid and Menweg to the National Park Visitor Center Ennstal or to Großraming
Safety guidelines:The summit ridge path is only recommended for those free from vertigo and experienced hikers!Additional information:
