Directions:We begin our hike at the parking lot at the Gramastetten school center and walk along the sidewalk on Linzerstraße heading towards Linz (out of town). At the first intersection, we turn right into Hubertusstraße and follow the road until we reach Marktblick on the left. This leads us to the Way of the Cross, which we climb on the left up to the next station.
From here, a detour to Kalvarienberg Church is possible before we continue the hike down the path on the right past the Fiereder farmhouse. At the fork, we keep left until we reach the old Linzerstraße, where we continue walking left again. At the fork, we turn right to the large lime tree. On the left, we continue to the Durstberger farmhouse, in front of which we turn right into a meadow path. This leads us directly to the Hamberg farm road, which we follow left – passing the Brotwöger and Wallner driveways and the Schöffleitner farmhouse. Along this section, we can enjoy mountain panorama and views into the Danube valley. Past Starzerhof, the hike takes us to GW Barth and further downhill on the left into the Buchleitenbach valley. We cross the Durstbergbach (Bleicherbach) on the bridge and arrive at the “Four Mountains Border.” A wooden board shows where three streams meet: “Three streams separate four mountains and look kindly into the land: Dürnberg, Schlagberg, Hamberg, Amberg, these are the four called.”
From there, we walk a short stretch along an asphalt road and immediately turn into the first forest and meadow path. In a curve, we arrive at the access road Bauernhaus Schlagberger, where we keep right and reach Schlagbergstraße. At the intersection, we keep right, following the road until we meet the Donausteig, where we continue walking left to Koeglerhof (Mostheuriger). Those who wish can make a detour to Koglerauerspitz (680 m above sea level, highest point in the area). The path leads steeply uphill between the equipment hall and the farmhouse on the left to the summit cross “Donaublick.” From here, we have a wonderful panoramic view of the Alpine foothills and the Danube in the Ottensheim area (regatta course).
Then we return the same way back to Koeglerhof. Now we keep right and follow the street “Am Großamberg” uphill to the end. At Schlagbergstraße, we first keep left. Before Ober-Koglerhof, we turn right into the hiking path leading over the meadow and through the forest. We follow this path to Sandbach and continue left towards Amberger village. Between the farmhouses Berngruber and Asenbaum, the old Linzerstraße leads downhill into a forest where we cross the Allerstorfer stream on a small stone bridge. We walk uphill again and reach the farm road Türkstetten. We go down this and eventually arrive at the end of the paved farm road at Langwieshäusl. Now we march uphill further on the old Linzerstraße, which leads us directly back to Gramastetten and our starting point.
