Forest air bathing in Tragwein
Tragwein is located in the Aist-Naarn-Kuppenland. The landscape is characterised by strongly structured mountain and hill country with numerous hilltops and narrow valley sections. There are rocky outcrops in the forests and remnants of original stone block meadows. The Weinsberg granite gives the landscape an uneven character with rapid changes between hilltops and valleys and has a high block-forming power. The centre of the landscape organism is the Gruberberg (698 m) in the north.
The circular hiking trail leads from the Greisinghof educational centre along the bible garden and over the Himmelstiege towards the B 124 Königswiesener-Bundesstraße. Cross this road and turn right shortly before the Aist bridge to Waldaist. You then cross a small bridge and walk along a wonderful forest path along the Waldaist. On the way, we pass the catch for the Scheiterschwemme, which is used as a covered wooden bridge.
You pass the Hohensteg bathing area, which is ideal for swimming in summer when the weather is fine. At the Waldaist bridge, a meadow path on the left-hand side of the stream leads to the confluence of the Waldaist and Feldaist rivers.
On the way back, you reach the Hohensteg goods road, after a short stretch you branch off to the right onto a forest path. This part of the route is known as the Fuchsgraben. You then reach the Stranzberg goods road, follow the road briefly and then branch off to the right. The path leads to the B 124 Königswiesener-Bundesstraße, which you cross. Now walk along the Greisinghof farm track for a while. At the Mistlberg fire station, the path branches off to the left towards Greisinghof. You walk past some fish ponds and then turn right along a forest path back to the Greisinghof.
