The 3 Summit Trail 07 with climate adaptation themes runs through the municipality of St. Leonhard bei Freistadt. The trail has a length of 21.3 km and is suitable for ambitious hikers as a day tour. Alternatively, it can be walked in 2 stages: 1st stage to Herzogreitherberg and on to km 5.6 (turn-off from the forest road to Krenner), then back to the starting point (only 900m!) and re-join the 2nd stage at km 5.6. The 1st stage is therefore 6.5km long and the 2nd stage 16.6km.
On this trail, 4 mountains with stunning views are hiked in the municipality of St. Leonhard, 3 of which have an impressive rock formation with a summit cross on top. The name of the 3-summit trail is derived from these 3 summits: the Herzogreitherfelsen, the Rehberggipfel and the Haiderberg.
The circular trail starts at the community centre and leads clockwise in a south-westerly direction to the Herzogreitherfelsen. On the way there, a detour to the "Zigeunerbuche" is signposted. The Herzogreitherfelsen (811m) is secured with ropes and step bars, but a head for heights and surefootedness are required.
From the Herzogreitherfelsen rock, the trail descends steeply past a very beautiful Pechölstein stone and resting bench to the village of Herzogreith and on to the Weltuntergangssteinen stones. The trail then leads partly along a forest road to the Aubachl. This is the lowest point of the hike (603 metres).
Now the trail continues steadily uphill via Wenigfirling, where there is a water point, the 3 summit bar and shortly afterwards a bench to rest on, to the Rehberg (895m).
From the Rehberg, the trail leads over the "Kaplkreuz" along the Falkenhofweg to the village of Langfirling. After Langfirling, the trail leads up to the Haiderberg (907m), the highest point in St. Leonhard.
The last section of the trail leads us back to St. Leonhard via the Predigtberg. On the Predigtberg (892m), the Susi Wallner Warte invites you to enjoy a panoramic view over the Mühlviertler Alm and far beyond.
In addition to the health aspect, the trail also aims to impart knowledge about climate adaptation. A learning experience about nature - in nature - is offered at 15 information points along the hiking trail.
The stations are clearly marked and the texts can be listened to via a free app(direct.hearonymus.com/guide/861) by entering the station number on your mobile phone.

There is a summit book at the 3 summit crosses where you can leave your impressions.
Gassi's Heuboden, the Gasthaus Piber and the restaurants in the village centre invite you to stop for a bite to eat.
