Gustav Mahler was one of the most important conductors and composers of the Late Romantic era. He composed most of his works in the Austrian mountains and many of these came into being on the shores of Lake Attersee.
Follow the “Salzkammergut Cycle Path” from Strobl to Bad Ischl and continue in the direction of Ebensee for 5 km. At Mitterweißenbach you turn left into the Weißenbachtal (R15) leading to Lake Attersee. Continue along the shore towards Steinbach and find Mahler’s famous composing retreat in the hamlet of Seefeld. Return along the same route to Weißenbach a. Attersee and continue to Unterburgau. From here, a climb takes you up to the Eisenaualm and Lake Schwarzensee. From Lake Schwarzensee continue to Russbach and to Strobl.
On the main road No. 158 you leave in Strobl and the tourist office Strobl is located directly in the center of Strobl. Public parking places are nearby.
