Pilgrimage along Alpine long-distance hiking trails from Altötting to Mariazell

This alpine route follows Long-Distance Hiking Trail 06 and, in part, the European Long-Distance Hiking Trail E4. It can be easily completed in three days, but requires good weather and a good level of fitness! Alternatively, you can also start from St. Wolfgang. From there, it’s two days’ hiking to Ebensee!
Day 1: From St. Gilgen (545 m) over the Falkenstein (796 m) to St. Wolfgang (549 m). From there, continue over the Kalvarienberg and along the Sattlweg to Schwarzensee (716 m), where we first follow the Eisenauweg and then the E4 via the Valerieweg through the Burggraben to Burgbachau (479 m) on Lake Attersee. Continue along the Attersee East Hiking Trail via Burgau to Weissenbach am Attersee (479 m).
Day 2: From Weissenbach am Attersee, ascent to the Schoberstein (1,037 m) and a high-altitude hike via Brennerin (1,559 m) and Gaissalm (1,510 m) to the Hochleckenhaus (1,574 m)
Day 3: From the Hochleckenhaus via the Grünalmkogel (1,821 m) to the Riederhütte (1,752 m) and on to the Feuerkogel (1,592 m). From the Feuerkogel, we can take the cable car directly to Ebensee, or hike down to Ebensee am Traunsee (443 m) via the Naturfreundehaus and the Kranabethhütte.
