Dachsteinrunde Classic and Experience
Many are still familiar with the Dachsteinrunde in its Blue, Red & Black variants. Since 2021, the Blue circuit is called Classic and the Black Experience. The Red route which was basically the Blue Round counterclockwise no longer exists. The two routes Classic and Experience are not yet signposted therefore they are ridden as GPS only tours. You can find the track on the right side of this entry. Currently there are the variants Dachsteinrunde Classic and Experience - Regarding the routing and signposting there have been changes. Dachsteinrunde Classic is already marked in the Dachstein Salzkammergut with the uniform, wine-red signage. In the others, the familiar old signage is still partially present. To be on the safe side, ride with GPS track. The Dachsteinrunde Experience is only available as a GPX tour and is not signposted!

Tour description Dachsteinrunde Classic

Bad Goisern - Gröbming

The Dachsteinrunde Classic starts at the legendary bike hotel Landhotel Agathawirt. Parking possibilities for all those who do not stay directly at the Agathawirt is e.g. the chain mooring at the Pötschen. From the Agathawirt you pass the gas station and turn left at the next intersection in the direction of Leisling. After about 1 km the first forest road branches off and it goes along the "Großer Zlambach", past the Leislinghütte. After the first crisp climb we turn left towards Halleralm and Raschberg.

The first serpentines and climbs quickly get us into the bike flow. After a small shooting range we turn right towards the state border, once we cross the Michlhall Bach and it is briefly Trail lastig. Then sharp left up the forest road. Past a few high stands we are largely in the forest until the forest road ends. Sharp right it goes on a wonderful but unfortunately short root carpet down to the forest road. We follow the path down to the forest ditch where we now have asphalt under the studs again. In the residential area please activate the deceleration mode and slowly roll through.

Shortly thereafter, the golden gravel is waiting for us again and we ride comfortably straight ahead in the direction of the ruins of Pflindsberg Castle. A detour is worthwhile - the view from there of Lake Altaussee is gigantic. After the ruins of Pflindsberg Castle, the descent becomes more and more racy. At the end of the forest road there is usually a closed barrier - so drive around it elegantly at an appropriate speed. Then we are again on a municipal road that goes steeply down towards Altaussee. Adjust your speed here as well and admire the beautiful traditional architecture of Altaussee.

At the bottom of the village, turn right at the crossroads after the Reischenböck nursery. (Left for those who want to make a short detour to the lake.) Straight ahead to the parking lot Schleichlmühle there we take the exit and turn left from the provincial road onto Mößernstraße. The next kilometers we stay on this road under the Tressenstein, at the Oase Berta we turn right and go down into the heart of Bad Aussee.

We cross the Chlumeckyplatz, pass the Kammerhofmuseum and turn into the traffic circle. We leave the roundabout at the 2nd exit and go straight ahead. After a short ascent we turn left in the direction of the Lutheran church and follow the road until it joins Bahnhofstraße again. After the bridge we keep right and turn left at the soccer field into Sießreithstraße. After a few more meters of asphalt, we turn right over a bridge to the company Holzbau Steinbrecher-Köberl, past the Schützenhaus we keep left. From here on we ride on gravel roads again. At the ASZ Bad Aussee we cross the bridge on the left and continue on the right along the marked cycle path next to the railway tracks to the Ausseerland fishery. At the crossing after the fishery we turn right and follow the asphalt road to Lake Ödensee.
At the Kohlröserlhütte we keep to the right and thus go around the Ödensee. We follow the gravelled road in the forest, soon the landscape opens up and we ride through the moorland to Mühlreith. From here it's sometimes steep, sometimes leisurely uphill to the Steinitzenalm. (Who now has a desire for Steirerkrapfen or Brettljause, must accept a short descent for a stop in the Steinitzenalm). From the Steinitzenalm we drive the Almgrabenstraße steadily downhill to the Kragl junction, here we keep to the right again and drive past the Kraglhütte to the Salza reservoir.
We drive along it briefly and turn right onto the gravel road that leads us to the Viehbergalm. The ascent to the Viehbergalm is rewarded with a view of the Dachstein glacier and magnificent panoramic views. (A stop at one of the huts certainly rounds off this experience!).
Descend through the well-known ovens to Gröbming.

Schladming - Filzmoos

The mountain bike crossing from Salzkammergut to Ennstal is a classic and the stop in the rustic alpine village on the Viehbergalm is an unforgettable moment. From the northern shore of the Salza reservoir, the route starts off leisurely uphill along a well-maintained forest road. After about 5 km the path becomes steeper and runs on relatively rough gravel to the mountain pass of the Viehbergalmen. After a refreshment, the route leads through the impressive Öfen (a steep rocky gorge) down to Gröbming and along the Enns river upstream.
On the valley floor, you make quick progress and cross several villages with farms and many traditional inns. Arrived in Weißenbach, the route alternates between little-used asphalt and gravel mountain roads uphill to the high plateau of Ramsau. The moderately steep ascent to the Dachstein valley station is somewhat strenuous, but from the Brandalm you are rewarded with a beautiful view of the Dachstein. Now follows one of the most scenic parts of the round trip - the route leads along alpine and meadow paths at the foot of the striking south walls of the Dachstein massif in the direction of Bachlalm. With a little luck, curious marmots can be spotted there. From there, an asphalt alpine road winds its way down to the Filzmoos state road.

Filzmoos - Tennengau
Please drive according to GPS track, description will be provided later.

Tennengau - Dachstein Salzkammergut

After the short but crisp climb from Neubergerhof to Langeggsattel at 1,313 meters, now begins a leisurely descent of about 5 km with short flats and two somewhat steeper sections into Neubachtal. From the Schichlbauer begins the asphalt road and we roll comfortably past the inn Schilchreit, which invites with its beautiful guest garden to stop (Mo. + Die. Rest day) to the Neuhausbauer, where we turn right on a Schottweg, now it goes about 1.5 km up to Unter Dürrmoosbauer, where we follow the flat asphalt road about. 0.5 km and then follow the gravel road for about 2 km (Sulzbachstraße) until we reach the crossroads and then turn sharply left, follow the hollow way and continue to the crossroads Langfeldweg, where we turn right and roll downhill on the asphalt road until we reach the crossroads Rauenbachstrasse.

Here we can decide whether to turn left and after about 200 m stop at the Dolomitenhof or spend the night. If you don't want to stop for the night, turn right and continue to the main road, where we turn right and stay on the main road for 3 km in the direction of Abtenau. At Leitenhaus we turn right onto the side road along the Lammer to the Reitgut Lammertal and turn right here, where the ascent to the Edtalm and Hornspitz begins. After a few steeper hairpin bends in the forest, we come to the last farms, where the forest road begins. A rest at the Edtalm is recommended before continuing to the Hornspitz.

Shortly before it goes up to the cable car station at Hornspitz, we turn right in the direction of Zeishofalm, which along the way again invites you to refreshment. Then we follow the forest road down to Pass Gschütt. At the federal road we descend a few meters to then cross the federal road. Here, caution is advised due to the often heavy traffic. At the small gravel parking lot we continue towards Gosau. On the forest road Wegscheidstraße we go straight to the turnoff Iglmoosalm (about 30 minutes away by biobike.) where we descend towards Gosau. Arrived in the district Ramsau we go over the federal road and then once over the Gosaubach. After the Gosaubach we continue to the right in the direction of Vital Hotel Gosau. After the hotel we cross the brook once and then turn sharp left towards the Gosaukamm.

In the Hintertal we arrive again at the federal road and drive a short distance to the right to then cross the federal road and drive into the residential street in the direction of Gosauschmied. At the Gasthof Gosauschmied we cross the federal road again and a path goes up diagonally to the left which makes a right turn and leads us over the small reservoir. This short hiking trail brings us back to the main road, which we follow to the left until we reach the Gosausee, which is already awaiting us with its unique panorama. At the wild-romantic mountain gullies of the Gosausee including the Dachstein, we continue along the eastern side of the lake. Quite soon the road branches off to the left and we pedal up and mentally adjust to the fact that this slope will accompany us for the next kilometers. First it goes in serpentines the forest road up, past the managed Ebenalm. After the Ebenalm again sharp left up the next serpentine. The forest road also passes the Löckernsee lake, which can be reached quickly after a few minutes walk. Continue past the alpine pasture Plankensteinalm up to the managed Rossalm. A highlight without question. E-bikers be forewarned, on the hut there is no charging possibility, we want finally no diesel aggregates for our e-bike power on alpine huts.

After the alpine pasture it goes on to the Stränhag and we have done the intense part from now on it will be more relaxed, promised. The descent on the long forest road demands our fullest concentration again. Now it goes several kilometers down to the Waldbachstrub which receives us depending on the weather with more or less thunderous applause um waterfalls. We continue to Hallstatt which we can already see together with the Echerntal on the descent, past the Simonydenkmal, along the Malerweg to the main road in Hallstatt where we then follow the cycle path to Obertraun. In Obertraun we cross the Koppentraun bridge and then turn left through the fairground and follow the road to the lido Obertraun.
Through the lido we reach the parking lot and at the traffic circle we take the second exit just before the railroad crossing we turn left towards Hallstättersee Ostufer. Straight ahead, past the Hallstatt train station, over the lake on a spectacular suspension bridge until the path forks, we go right up the steep climb. First we ride on a forest road which later changes into an apshalt road. At the next junction we go slightly left down to the Seeraunzen, from here it goes again on the shore of Lake Hallstättersee to Bad Goisern. Now we go straight ahead for one kilometer. Finally, there is another intersection in the Untersee district of Bad Goisern, where we turn right and then left after 20 meters over a bridge. We pass the Dirt Bike Park Arikogel and the road until we reach the federal road. Once crossed the road at the crosswalk we are back on the bike path that takes us to Bad Goisern. Once again through Bad Goisern and we are back at the starting point the marketplace in Bad Goisern arrived. Tired but happy, packed with great memories
