Sabina Haslinger describes a 15-day pilgrimage route through the Traunsee-Almtal region from the lowlands to the mountains and back to the starting point with 17 sections and extra hikes.
Why 15 days and 17 sections? From the Almtal valley, with the picturesque Almsee lake, there are 2 marked hiking trails over to the neighbouring municipality of Ebensee am Traunsee. Here you can choose from one of the two routes presented and the additionally described route via the Laudachsee from the Traunsee back to the Almtal makes it possible to split the entire route.
For each section, Sabina Haslinger has selected a fairy tale, a tradition or a legend and provided an impulse as well as instructions for an exercise.
This trail is intended for adult "solo walkers" as well as for pilgrims and hikers in groups.
Individual sections of the entire trail can also be experienced wonderfully as a family with children with the help of the fairy tales and instructions on day hikes. However, it is advisable to choose the routes and fairy tales carefully, as not all of them are suitable for children due to their length, content and difficulty.
For the stages, emphasis has been placed on accessibility by public transport or connections to bus, train or regional transport solutions. Each tour also includes information about the respective alternative to private transport. In addition, hiking taxis, buses or trains offer the option of using overnight accommodation for two days so that you don't have to carry everything on your back every day.
The connection to public transport also makes it possible to undertake a long-distance hike from A to B as a day trip with family or friends. The tours are described starting and finishing at bus or train stops.
Overnight stays and accommodation can be searched for and booked via the Traunsee-Almtal-Salzkammergut tourist board.
An appropriate fairy tale, tradition or legend has been selected for each hiking section and added to the tour description.
Sabina recommends reading this story in a cosy atmosphere over breakfast or at the start of the hike. One part of the story, a picture, will certainly be remembered. Perhaps it was particularly incomprehensible, perhaps particularly obvious. Perhaps a part reminds you of your own life, perhaps of your neighbour's life, perhaps of your own childhood, or perhaps...
Carry this part of the story with you into your hiking day and allow yourself to reflect on it... If you like, take a longer break along the way to read the story again. Sometimes the view changes and new scenes, new images want to be seen in the fairy tale, but also in yourself. If you don't remember a particular part of the fairy tale when you read it, it doesn't matter. Perhaps you would like to take up the impulse suggestion.
To sharpen your awareness and mindfulness of the wonderful nature that surrounds us, I have provided an exercise for the day. It is recommended that you take some time to do this exercise every now and then.
The exercises and instructions seem trivial and simple, but I always come back from a hike full of happiness and gratitude and hope that this will happen to you too!
Tip: Put your mobile phone in your rucksack in case of an emergency - use your eyes, ears,... or a camera for reminders - so there is less temptation to "quickly" check your emails, text messages, Facebook and the like on the way... and you can fully enjoy the day "just with yourself"!

You will find the directions, the fairy tale texts and an audio if you prefer to have the fairy tale told to you. Impuses and exercises are waiting for you. There is also a link to the route on Alpenvereinaktiv.com for each stage.
I wish you lots of fun on your fairytale pilgrimage!
Your Sabina Haslinger!
