Wonderful, leisurely ride to Zell am Pettenfirst with a stop at Gasthof Leitner!

After a ride through our idyllic Hausruckwald forest, you soon catch sight of the church spire of Zell am Pettenfirst. You ride along a small stream, which can also be used as a watering place for the horses.

There are 2 small paddocks available at Gasthof Leitner (please book at least the day before) and a hearty roast can be pre-ordered for groups of 8 or more.

On the way home you can see the Hausruckviertler free-range pigs in Hinterschachen during the grazing season before returning to the forest track.
From Hausruckhof in a northerly direction uphill to Schachen, after the waste collection centre turn right and head south along the Tölt route to Rabelsberg. Keep left there and ride eastwards along the 100 metre hiking trail in a north-easterly direction (Eckleiten on the left, Wolfsegger Feld on the right). At the Ochsenzungen you have rounded Waldpoint and continue to the right in a south-easterly direction towards Burgstall.
The route through the forest is enchanting and offers many views of the small villages.
In Hinteröd, after a short descent, you come out of the forest and the destination of Zell lies at your feet. The well-surfaced path slopes gently between the meadows and you simply ride towards the church tower.
When you reach the country road, you can already see the inn and car park, 1 paddock is right next to the road, the other at the far end of the car park.
After stopping for refreshments, walk around the inn, turn right into the little-used road, past the cemetery, north-west to Hinterschachen, past the Hausruckviertler Freilandschweine farm, then immediately turn right to the west into the cul-de-sac (keep your eyes open, large groups of deer like to graze here). At the last house the road forks, stay on the middle path and past the house onto the forest path again. After a few metres, turn left and follow the path first to the west, then to the south until you are back on the 100er Wandweg (already in the Rabelsberg area). Follow this in a northerly direction to Rabelsberg, leave the forest path there and past the crusher on the Töltweg back to Schachen and descend to Hausruckhof (as at the beginning).
