From the district Schwarzenbach near St. Wolfgang, you walk to the Schwarzensee, which is circled to see all idyllic spots. Via Sommeraualm, you reach the spectacularly beautiful summit of Vormauerstein. After taking in the incredible mountain world and even looking down into the valley and at Wolfgangsee, you proceed totally flowing over lush meadows and paths to the third lake of the day: Mönichsee. The downhill from there is first technically fun, then super relaxed over forest roads towards St. Wolfgang. Even in the last kilometers back to the starting point, we enjoy every singletrail in the forest and savor the lovely landscape.
Directions:The start is at the bus stop St. Wolfgang Schwarzenbach or the parking lot there. The signs point the way to Schwarzensee. Along the right shore, you initially run on asphalt, but soon complete the loop via a wide hiking trail. At the lake inn Alm-Stadl, we follow the saddle path. Slightly ascending, we can run up to the next junction, where the path turns sharply right and then follows the ridge up to Sommeraualm. A little before the alm, follow the markings up to the forest edge and then over several rocky sections up to the high plateau. There stand some private huts. From here, the cross of Vormauerstein is already clearly visible. Once at the top, carefully descend and then keep left as early as possible. You reach a fork where we continue towards Schafberg. Beautiful, flowing, and runnable, it then leads to Mönichsee. The small cold lake forms the transition to the downhill. At the fork, we go left, quite steeply down. The path crosses the forest road several times here before staying entirely on it and leading us into the valley. Of course, we want to avoid asphalt as much as possible on return, so we run over some steps along a small hill past the village of St. Wolfgang. Afterward, the path towards Schwarzenbach is well marked again and leads us gently up and down through meadows and forests back to the starting point.
Tip:Very rewarding in both directions.
Safety guidelines:Dress according to the weather. Do not underestimate the return journey. The small ascents after the long downhill can be tiring.
