PATH OF SALT - STAGE 2/1 HALLSTATT - BAD ISCHL

On the trail of the "white gold" from Hallstatt to Bad Ischl. The 23-kilometer route runs through the impressive landscape of the Salzkammergut region

On the trail of the oldest pipeline in the world.

This stage follows the pipeline from Hallstatt to Ebensee, which first went into continuous operation in 1607. As the section from Hallstatt to Steeg is closed and driving is prohibited on the brine pipeline route, you first have to take a boat from Hallstatt market to Hallstatt railroad station.
On the eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt, follow the cycle path over the suspension bridge with the deepest point of Lake Hallstatt to the Steegwirt (km 8.4) and then continue along the R2 / Salzkammergut cycle path to Bad Ischl or through the village of Gschwand via Bad Goisern, Wildpfad, Lauffen and Kaltenbach to the imperial town of Bad Ischl with the destination Trinkhalle (km 22.5).
