Hafeld

Starting place: 4652 Fischlham
Destination: 4652 Fischlham

The Hafeld circuit starts at the Fischlham Community Centre and leads to the second starting point of the walking and running trail network, the car park at the former Fischerstuben inn, where the Traun-Alm circuit also begins.

The Hafeldrunde takes us out of the village towards the west along safe pavements. It leaves the village via Ornhartinger Straße, and we come to the steepest climb on this route: the ascent to Ornharting. A glance back reveals the village of Fischlham, still very much set amongst the greenery. As we leave Ornharting, an unpaved path leads us to the right. A vast horizon opens up before us; on a clear day, we can see the Salzkammergut mountain range, including the Traunstein. Numerous churches in Lambach, as well as the granary at Stadl-Paura and even the Hausruckkamm (Wolfsegg am Hausruck) come into view. The route continues downhill past Sophie Hacker’s farmstead. On the right, via the Trappl farm track, the route continues on tarmac once more. We cross the Hafeld local road and follow the signposts along the Stögmühlbach stream on Teichweg, where we meet the road of the same name at the new veterinary practice, right next to the Almsteg. Here, we now follow the route of the Hafeld Loop through the residential area, back along the Stögmühlbach to the Fischerstuben inn (second starting point), where you can stop for a rest at any time. Behind the inn, we cross the bridge to the other bank of the Stögmühlbach and continue along Mitterfeldstraße until we cross the Hafeldstraße again, where the path turns left onto the safe footpath and cycle path along the Föhrenholz to the Sattledter Landesstraße; we cross this at the bus stop. The path back into the village runs alongside the Natura 2000 area, the water ski centre and Plana’s gravel quarry, over the Stegmühl Bridge, and branches off into Entensteinstraße before the so-called Schlossmühlkurve, where, after the bridge over the Fischlhamerbach, it turns right onto the Entenstein Runde route, past the sports facilities, back to the starting point at the community centre.
