Gerold Chapel and Eigruberhof over the Spadenberg

The varied and physically demanding circular hike leads from Wolfsgruberau over the Plattenberg and Spadenberg to the Geroldkapelle chapel and on to the Eigruberhof farm.

Starting from Wolfsgruberau, the tour first leads up to the wind turbines on the Plattenberg and then on to the Spadenberg. Shortly before the Geierkogel or Glasenberg, the trail branches off on forest roads to the Geroldkapelle chapel. After a refreshment stop at the Eigruberhof, the trail descends into the Großkohlergraben. The trail leads back uphill to Finstereben via a quiet, little-used path and finally back to the starting point at Wolfsgruberau.
Directions:We start from the parking lot at an altitude of around 700 m and climb southwards through the forest up to the wind turbines on the Plattenberg at around 900 m. The trail then continues over the Plattenberg in an easterly direction to a parking lot. From there, the trail continues along the ridge up to the Spadenberg (approx. 1000 m).
Then follow the path towards Glasenberg or Maria Neustift along route E54. Shortly before the Geierkogel, a forest road branches off to the left, which we follow. At the next opportunity, we keep left again and stay on the forest road, which continues straight ahead. At the second junction, we turn right and follow the signs to the Geroldkapelle chapel and the Eigruberhof farm.
At the Geroldkapelle chapel, a meadow path leads directly down to the Eigruberhof snack station.
After a rest, we continue south on an almost flat path and reach a farm after a section of forest. There is a choice here: either follow the road down the valley or take a path along the edge of the forest about 200 m before the farm. Both options lead to the same fork in the path in the Großkohlergraben.
There we cross the road and head south-east uphill again until we reach a farm on the right-hand side of the stream. We bypass it, then cross the meadow uphill and reach a forest road near a hut. We follow this road briefly before a narrow path branches off to the right next to a small ditch. Via this, we finally reach the Finstereben meadow at around 692 m.
After crossing the road, a largely flat path leads back to the starting point at Wolfsgruberau.

Unsere Großbichleralm liegt in der unvergleichbaren ruhigen Lage nahe dem „Windpark Laussa“ und lädt Familien, Kinder- und Jugendgruppen mit Betreuung , Wanderfreunde sowie Freunde zum Entspannen und gemütlichen Beisammensein ein. Bei uns können Sie die Seele baumeln lassen, die Ruhe genießen oder Feste feiern. Es gibt mehrere Aufenthaltsräume und Schlafplätze. Damit es auch an kühlen Tagen heimelig ist, gibt es die Möglichkeit mit Holzöfen einzuheizen und auch damit zu kochen.
Unsere Alm ist ausgestattet mit 2 Aufenthaltsräumen, einer Küche mit Geschirrspüler, Kaffeemaschine und Herdplatten. Weiters ist genügend Geschirr vorhanden, 2 Kühlschränke und 2 Toiletten sowie Waschmöglichkeit bei einem Waschtisch.

Die bekannte Jausenstation in Kleinraming/St. Ulrich im Steyr-Land ist mehr als ein Mostheuriger und bietet in gemütlichem, modern-rustikalem Ambiente ausgezeichnete Brettljausen, herzhafte Knödel, knuspriges Bratl, frisches Bauernbrot, Most, Wein, Bier, Schnäpse und viele weitere köstliche Spezialitäten aus dem Hause und der Region.
Auch Busse sind willkommen! Bei großen Gruppen über 30 Personen öffnen wir mit Voranmeldung auch an unseren Ruhetagen Montag oder Dienstag.
Beim Mostkistl können durstige Pilger ihren Durst mit regionalem Most, Cider und Frizzante stillen.

Das Mostkistl, eigens gebaut von der Familie Laussermayer, ist befüllt mit Most, Frizzante sowie Apfelsaft und bietet eine gute Gelegenheit für eine Rast an einem anstrengenden Pilgertag.
