Due to a change of tenants, the hut is closed and could be open probably winter 2024/25
Summer opening times
It is unclear whether and when the Riederhütte will be reopen, but it will be closed in summer 2024. Probably the hut will be open in the winter season 2024/25, usually from end of December. There is information about this on the homepage www.alpenverein.at/riederhuette

Vom 7. 10. bis 3. 11. besteht die Möglichkeit, in der Riederhütte zu übernachten.

Geschlossen, die Hütte wird erst ab Mai 2025 wieder geöffnet sein.
Please bring:
- visit our huts only in a healthy condition!
- reserve your place for the night - without reservation no place to sleep!
- overnight stay only with your own sleeping bag and padding (light down or summer sleeping bag - no hut sleeping bag)!
Sleeping places are separated with dividers, and bunks for everyone's protection.
Mattress camp: 36 sleeping places
- 2 large dormitories with 14 beds each, 2x 4-person rooms

- The winter room is locked with an AV lock (8 places, heatable).

Accessibility / arrivalAlong the Aritzbach stream to its source. Shortly afterwards, cross the forest road and climb through the high forest to the Spitzalm (not managed). A nice bench at the Spitzalm invites you to take a break.
Through Haselwaldgasse, the trail leads NW to Höllkogelgrube. From here it is possible to make a detour (approx. 30min) to the Großer Höllkogel (1788m). From the Höllkogelgrube you can reach the Rieder Hütte in about 20 minutes.
The descent can be made via the Feuerkogen (approx. 1.5 hours) and down with the Feuerkogel cable car. Train connection from Ebensee to Langwies.
Usually opened: Beginning of February till end of March, mid of May till end of October.
As it is possible that the opening hours could be changed, a short telephone call is recommended , especially during the winter season.
