Konradfest: New sounds for an old space - festive mass in Oberwang
Since the 1990s, the Konradfest has been a meeting place for contemporary music, world premieres and artistic exchange - co-founded by Martin Haselböck and still going strong today.
The Konradfest 2025 begins with a world premiere: the renowned composer Klaus Lang has created a festive mass especially for the unique Konradkirche in Oberwang - a work that not only fills the space, but also enters into a relationship with it.
Lang's music is characterized by silence, intensity and a focus on the essentials. In the clear architecture of the church, his composition unfolds as a spiritual experience beyond traditional forms.
An extraordinary morning for anyone who wants to discover new music in a special setting - as a conscious excursion or a sonorous moment on a cultural vacation. KirchKlang shows: Faith and presence, sound and space can meet in a touching way.
Afternoon program from 12 noon - a listening path with Karlheinz Stockhausen
The afternoon is all about Karlheinz Stockhausen, one of the most visionary composers of the 20th century. His works transcend genre boundaries, combine spirituality and experimentation - and invite you to experience sound as an experience.
The event kicks off at 12.00 noon in the Atelier with the electro-acoustic work "Gesang der Jünglinge im Feuerofen" - a classic of New Music, impressive in its combination of voice and electronics.
At 2 p.m., the "Melodies of the Signs of the Zodiac" will follow at the Konrad Chapel at the Konrad Fountain - short, poetic and meditative sound images of the signs of the zodiac. Both events are free of charge.
The highlight is the concert at 3.30 pm in the Konradkirche (tickets required): The Ensemble for Intuitive Music Weimar, under the direction of Michael von Hintzenstern, interprets "For Times to Come" - an intuitive composition in which each sound event is created live in the moment.
A festival afternoon for open-minded listeners - concentrated, contemplative and sonically boundless.
