The St. Florian Boys' Choir can look back on almost 1,000 years of history. Since the year 1,071, its existence has been documented in the Augustinian canons' monastery of St. Florian in Upper Austria. For generations, the choir has stood for the cultivation and further development of sacred choral music and is today one of the most traditional ensembles of its kind.

Under the direction of Markus Stumpner, the St. Florian Boys' Choir regularly performs on renowned stages and at international festivals and works together with renowned orchestras. Soloists from the boys' choir often take on the roles intended for boys in opera productions. In addition to its tradition-conscious choral work, the ensemble is characterized by stylistic openness and a high degree of musical flexibility.

At this concert, the St. Florian Boys' Choir and its male choir present a varied choral program that transcends musical and linguistic boundaries. Works by Augustinus Franz Kropfreiter, Jukka Linkola and Zoltán Kodály as well as contemporary arrangements by Bob Chilcott demonstrate the wide range between sacred tradition, folk music and modern choral art.
