Fighting Dušman

With “Fighting Dušman,” the Vienna-based theater ensemble Die Fremden presents a moving original production about friendship, courage, and resistance. 

The story centers on two women whose shared childhood in an authoritarian state was marked by control and fear. While one eventually conforms to the system, the other remains committed to her fight for freedom and self-determination. The story explores loyalty, lost dreams, and the question of how people cope with oppression.

The play was developed collaboratively by the ensemble and combines the performers’ personal experiences with current social and political issues. Multilingualism, movement, dance, and striking imagery come together to create a unique form of theater that is both moving and thought-provoking.
