Hut Breining

The hut Breining is situated in the middle of the hiking area Zwieselalm and is a well known hiking destination for families. You can enjoy a beautiful view to the Dachstein from the sun terrace of the hut!
Welcome to the Breining hut
The Breining hut is a rustic alpine pasture with good home cooking and is not far from the mountain station of the Gosaukamm cable car. You have a wonderful view of the Gosaukamm and the Dachstein glacier.
In summer you can reach the Breining Hut with the cable car "Gosaukammbahn" (starting from the Lake Gosau) or on foot via the Herrenweg from Gosau.
In winter you can reach the Breininghütte with the Panoramajet.

The hut is open in summer from the middle of May to the end of October and in winter from December to the beginning of April.

Accessibility / arrivalThe Breininghütte can be reached in summer with the Gosaukammbahn and in winter with the Panoramajet.
By car
from Salzburg:
Highway exit Golling - Abtenau, Rußbach, Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 7 km you will reach Lake Gosau.
From Linz:
Regau highway exit - Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, then after approx. 7 km you will reach Lake Gosau.
from Vienna/Graz:
Liezen highway exit onto B320, in Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 to Bad Aussee, continue on the B145 towards Bad Goisern, take the B166 ramp to Golling/Gosau/Obertraun/Hallstatt/Bad Goisern-Süd, turn right at the Gosaumühle junction towards Gosau
Gosau: at the Pass Gschütt junction, drive straight ahead onto the Gosausee Landstraße, then after approx. 7 km you will reach the Gosausee.
from Villach:
Tauernautobahn to exit "Eben im Pongau", via B166 Pass Gschütt Bundesstraße to Gosau
Gosau: after the Pass Gschütt junction, turn right onto the Gosausee Landstraße, after approx. 7 km you will reach Lake Gosau.
By train
Route Attnang-Puchheim - Stainach-Irdning
Arrival by train in "Steeg / Gosau" then continue by bus 541 in the direction of Gosaumühle, change to bus 542 in the direction of Lake Gosau
By bus (Sundays irregular):
Bus 470 (Abtenau - Gosau) direction Gosau, bus stop Gosau Abzw. Pass Gschütt
change to bus 542 direction Gosausee, get off at the bus stop "Hintertal b.Gosau Gosaukammbahn" and you will reach the Gosausee.
