SENSE FORGING ENSEMBLE SCHMIEDLEITHEN IN LEONSTEIN - Discover the life of the hammer lords!

The "Austrian Sickle Forging" was recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Austrian UNESCO Commission in 2014.

The Schmiedleithen is a lovingly preserved scythe forge ensemble from a time when the blacksmith hammers roared and the coveted blue scythe brought power and wealth to the hammer lords. Manors, production buildings, servants' houses, and gardens still reminisce about the life of the Black Counts of yore.

The idyllic EISENSTRASSEN theme trail, branching off from the Steyrtal cycle path, takes you to an unexpected gem. Beautiful manors, historical gardens, former blacksmith and servants' houses, workshops, and the impressive landscape transport you to a different world – one thought to be forgotten – that of the BLACK COUNTS!

Theme path "In the Footsteps of the Black Counts": year-round cycling and hiking trail | 2.5 or 4 km (also suitable for strollers)
Guided tour of Schmiedleithen 1 hour.

Exhibition "The Last Black Counts": In the "Kram", scythes were once produced for shipping all over the world. Today, an exhibition is dedicated to the life and work of the Zeitlinger family. Available for viewing upon request and registration.

Manor Garden: Thematic gardens over 3000 m², open continuously for viewing from May to October. Group tours available year-round by prior arrangement.

Tour of the Schmiedleithen including an exhibition and garden with snacks in the garden stüberl (choice of coffee, tea, natural juices, specialty ciders, pastries, or rolls)
