Alpineum Hinterstoder

The Alpineum, as a modern, award-winning exhibition house, is worth a visit at any time of the year.
You will receive background information about the history of the Stodertal, the life-threatening work of the woodcutters, the alpine development history of the Totes Gebirge, and the evolution of skiing from its beginnings to the World Cup.
The modern museum building – established in 1998 – already hints from the outside that a dusty "local museum" awaits visitors, but rather historical and current videos and acoustic effects. The fundamental concept of the Alpineum is to make connections from the past to the present, with its extremely extensive collection of historical and contemporary exhibits. In an entertaining manner, the past comes alive and is turned into an experience for visitors through engaging text and image design. Be surprised.
The Alpineum was also awarded one of the best exhibition venues in Europe at the "Museum of the Year Award 2000." In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Alpineum continually surprises with successful special exhibitions on a variety of topics.
Special Exhibition:
ALPINE MOMENTS
In the Footsteps of E.T. Compton
Photography and Painting by Michael Zacek
Michael Zacek captures the archaic impact of nature in a mood-filled and technically refined manner. He explores all the displayed motifs himself and initially captures the mountain world with his camera. Through intensive reworking with strong texture and color application, three-dimensionality is regained. The resulting spatial "real view" makes his works appear deep and vibrant. On the occasion of the 175th birthday of E.T. Compton, Michael Zacek follows the trails and motifs of the alpine painter.
