Starting from the parking lot at the indoor swimming pool in Spital am Pyhrn, elevation 650 m - continue along the B138 (marked cycle lane) for 1 km then turn right to the Oberweng road, relatively evenly ascending, past the Gatterburg chapel to the Zickgut farm in Oberweng; 2.7 km, elevation 815 m - take the right-hand turn-off along the Hochgasse service road, ascend evenly to the former Großhütte inn; 5.4 km, elevation 1,037 m - at the end of the tarmac road there is a particularly impressive viewpoint overlooking the Windischgarstner Valley. From the former Großhütte inn a public gravel service road leads gently uphill then becomes slightly flatter before rising again at the end until it reaches Sonnleitner quarry - forest gate, 1.6 km; after 100 m you reach the summit at 1,160 m - magnificent panoramic view of the Grosse and Kleine Pyhrgas, Bosruck, Pyhrn Pass, the Low Tauern, and the Warscheneck region. The forest track descends gently 950 m to the Holzeralm mountain lodge at an elevation of 1,135 m.
Suggested hiking detour: lock your bike up in a bike stand and hike to the beautiful Gowilalm mountain hut at an elevation of 1,375 m. Walking time to the hut is approx. 45 mins on route 618.
Mountain bikin/E-biking is strictly forbidden on the paths to the Gowilalm hut!
From the Holzeralm lodge, the forest track starts with an even 1 km ascent to the crossroads between the forest track and the road to Gowilalm hut at an elevation of 1,180 m. From this piece of road you have a wonderful view down into the natural scenery of the Goslitztal Valley and a magnificent view of the Totes Gebirge mountains, the Warscheneck, and the Priel mountains. Bear left at the crossroads, following the Gowilalm trail downwards. Watch out for hikers! Proceed to the fork in the road, bear slightly right along the start of the forest track to a second fork, continue straight ahead along an forest path for approx. 20 m to the next forest road, taking two hairpin bends down to the forest gate. Continue on a gently descending forest road through an area of pasture to where it meets the tarmac Goslitzer road. Pass the Singerskogel holiday farm, approx. 500 m uphill to the junction at the Flinderlmühle. Starting out flat before gently descending, you return to the starting point in Spital am Pyhrn via Oberweng.

Cycling and mountain biking is permitted from April 15 to October 31, 2 hours after sunrise to 1 hour before sunset, and is only permitted on marked routes. Some bike paths are also designated as hiking trails or bridle paths. Always be prepared for oncoming hikers or riders!
