The length of the Reutlweg - Konrad Lorenz hiking trail can be varied as required.

Starting at the sawmill (behind the former Kirchmühle inn), the path leads over a small bridge, past the Wachstein, on over Reutl to the Wanderruh guesthouse or to the Oberschwiebel estate (junction to the Hinterrinnbachtal). From here you can hike back into town: walking time approx. 1.5 hours.

This path continues straight ahead from Pension Wanderruh via Rabenbrunn, Heckenau to the junction to JUFA Almtal. Past the Rabenau sawmill, the route to Fischerau leads to the Cumberland Wildlife Park (6 km from the village to the Wildlife Park). Continue on the Konrad Lorenz hiking trail to Hotel Jagersimmerl and on Seeweg M to the Almsee.

This path is identical to the Almuferweg Genuss am Almfluss!

by train: Take the Almtalbahn 153 from Wels.

by bus: OÖVV bus route 533/534
Gmunden - Scharnstein - Grünau im Almtal - Almsee

with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service:
Route 60 in Grünau im Almtal from the train station to popular excursion destinations such as Cumberland Wildlife Park and Almsee.
Please note the seasonal operating times for trips to the Hochberghaus and Almtalerhaus excursion destinations: Hochberghaus in the Kasberg hiking area from May 1 to October 31 and Almtaler Haus near the Ödseen lakes from May 1 to September 15. No short trips possible at these two stops!

Call +43 (0) 50 - 422 422 at least half an hour before the start of the journey!

If bus connection on the OÖVV line 533 is possible before or after less than 30 minutes, no Salzkammergut Shuttle Service possible! In this case, please use the OÖVV bus connection!


by bike: take the R 11 Almtal cycle path from Wels to Grünau im Almtal and on to the Almsee. Also on the Traunvierteltour from Gmunden or Schlierbach.

By car:
Highway A1: Leave the Westautobahn A1 in Regau and follow the B145 to Scharnstein and on to Grünau im Almtal.
Autobahn A9: Leave the A9 in Inzersdorf-Kirchdorf and follow the Austrian Romanikstraße to Scharnstein and on to Grünau im Almtal.
