The passages for pushing the bike demand condition and craft.

This stage contains two downhill and two uphill single trails (shared trail). Well-trained cyclists will not face any difficulty, others might push the bikes during this parts.

A detour is not possible. Either you turn around and take the stage BergeSeen 8 back to Ebensee or you take straight the stage BergeSeen 8 only until Ebensee and start from there the stage BergeSeen 9.

Next to the beautiful nature the following attractions and highlights may contribute making this tour an unforgettable experience:

  • Wildparc Cumberland and very close the lake Almsee,

  • the path through the wilderness to the lake Offensee,

  • the valley Rindbachtal and the panoramic view to Ebensee,

  • the gondola to the Feuerkogel, so you can meet the challenge of one of the most difficult downhills,

  • the lakes Vorderer and Hinterer Langbathsee and the breathtaking view back to the Traunsee

  • and the Taferlklause, the nostalgic Kienbachtal in direction to Attersee.

Directions:
The stage BergeSeen 9 starts at the tourist office in Grünau. We go first on the cycle path following in direction to Almsee, which we reach after 11,2 km. There our tour (S 800) turns in 589 m before the lake and before the bridge turns to the right. For now the tour carries on effortless on a gravel road, but already after a few kilometers the leads upwards to the Offensee. We follow the signs S800 BergeSeen 9 and reach after about 9,4 km the turn, which leads after a left turn right upwards to the so-called Geschirrsattel. The path always gets more tight and after few more meters we reach the highest point of the tour in 1031 m. From now on the trail takes us downwards (1031 alt, km 20,8). Most of you will stop after about 500 - 600 m and push the bike on the way down. There is also the possibility to avoid this part, by turning at the first chance to a gravel pit. This way it is mostly much easier. All the well-trained cyclists will enjoy the trail of 600 m (756 alt, km 22,1). Be careful at the last turn. Now we turn on a forest road to the left always following the signs until after 700 m we reach a crossing.  If you wanna make a break or take a swim, go straight ahead. If you do not need a break, turn to the left in order to see the lake after 400 m.

Along the lake we carry on for the next 700 m in direction to the parking at the Offenseer Bundesstraße (654 alt, km 23,9).

We cross the parking an turn after 1,1 km to the right in a forest road in direction to Rindbach. After about 1,9 km we turn to the left, cross the Steinbach on a wooden bridge and turn after 800 m to the right in an uphill trail (710 alt, km 27,7). As far as you can manage it, go upwards. It also takes nerves to push the bike.

The shared trail leads winding about 900 m upwards (847 alt, km 28,6) and flows into a forest road to the right. We follow this road until Rindbach. After about 5,1 km in a right turn (542 alt, km 33,7) you will enjoy a panoramic view over the Rindbachtal till Ebensee.

Our journey leads us straight ahead further on the way, always following the signs until we cross in Ebensee the Traun. Here we reach a point which we passed the other day already coming from Bad Ischl.

Now this time we take the underpass in direction to the center and turn after 300 m to the right (428 hm, km 38,4) into the Langbathstraße. Passing the Feuerkogelbahn we go on a tarmac road 2,3 km upstream and turn then to the right into a forest road.

Here there is the possibility to shorten for about 600 m the tour by moving on on the tarmac road.

The original route leads again 700 m upwards through the Rumitzgraben. Now left below of the Hochlacken the way takes us around the Farnaugupf with beautiful views to the Traunsee. After about 13,7 km you can make a stop at the Hochsteinalm. Otherwise we carry on further to the next crossing after 100 m. We cross it straight ahead and after 1,9 km we leave the forest road to the left steep upwards into an uphill trail (861 alt, km 54,3). This part is easier than the one before and also of a shorter distance. Whoever can do it goes 200 m and 55 meters in altitude upwards, then to the left in a path downwards, which comes again to a forest road after 700 m. Shortly after that at the next crossing (804 alt, km 55,3) we turn to the left downwards and stay at this forest road for 1,8 km til the Langbathstraße (654 alt, km 56,9).

After 600 m we can see already the Vorderen Langbathsee on our right below us. Following the signs we reach also the Hinteren Langbathsee (733 alt, km 60,7), which we reach after 2,3 km. We go around the lake at the left side and after 2,2 km we reach again the starting point.

After 400 m more we take the forest road (728 alt, km 62,5), which leads to the left steep upwards for the next 200 m. Then in direction to Grossalm we meet the street L544 (732 alt, km 67,4). We turn to the left, pass the Taferlklause and go downwards to the restaurant Kienklause, which we reach after 4,5 km. From then own there are 3,9 km in front of us to the main road B152, in which we turn to the left (478 alt, km 75,8). Already after 400 m we leave it to our left. There we can make a break before we reach the destination of today, Steinbach am Attersee.

Tip:
A precise preperation and information in advance of the description of the stage BergeSeen 8 and 9 might avoid any bad surprise. It is important and highly recommended in order to assess the difficulty of the trail refering to the own abilities.

The passages are in any case achieveable by pushing the bike. In this case the estimated duration of the tour increases by 30 to 40 minutes.

In any case you should think of the batteries. Since the tour is quite challenging, 2 batteries might be not enough.

A nice refreshment on the way: A stop for a swim at the Offensee or Hinterer Langbathsee.

Additional information:
As new figures on the playing field of mountain and recreational sportsmen, we E-MTB riders have a special responsibility to behave appropriately.

In Graubünden bikers and hikers share the paths. A project that should set a precedent. But this can only be done with mutual respect. Black sheep throw us back years.

With common rules of play, we ensure that the forest will continue to provide a unique recreational and living space as well as jobs for everyone in the future.
