Paths covering:
The Oberwenger Panoramaroute is peppered with great views: enjoy the view of the Dead Mountains, the Warscheneck and the Prielgroup.
The small Pyhrgas is a bit north of the main ridge of the Haller Walls - this makes the panoramic view from its summit cross particularly interesting and attractive. In addition, its northwest ridge carries one of the most beautiful alpine pastures in the region, which alone is worth the climb.
BIKE:
From the indoor pool car park in Spital am Pyhrn you can ride your mountain bike via the Oberwenger Panorama Route (MTB2) to the change station at the Jausenstub'n Singerskogel.
Follow the MTB2 back via the Holzeralm.
The bike tour takes about 45 minutes | 4.5km | 220 vertical meters (one way - via Oberweng) and back via the Holzeralm and Pramfeld approx. 1.30 hours | 10.9km | 390Hm to the specified route data.
HIKE:
You hike from the Jausenstub'n Singerskogel in Oberweng to the Gowilalm. It's an easy hike on a wide but steep path in places.
We follow the signpost to the Gowilalm or hiking trail number 616. At the next junction, continue left until we climb up the wide path through the forest to the right. A bend in the forest road is shortened straight ahead, then the path leads up a steep and wooded ridge to the 1,375 m high and well-managed Gowilalm. Now it's time for a break.
We continue uphill and choose trail 617, which branches off to the left just above the Gowilalm, and which climbs through steep mountain pine slopes and the rocky terrain high above the Holzerkar. Finally, we climb the upper edge of the sloping summit meadow to the small Pyhrgas. Walking time from the Gowilalm approx. 1.5 hours.
Descent on the same route.
Another option is also available from the Gowilalm: From the hut you can also descend to the Holzerkar on path no. 617/618 in a curve to the left. On the forest road is the alpine hut of the same name (not managed), from there it goes - soon crossing another forest path - down into the valley of the Goslitzbach. Past Schmeißlreith you come to a fork in the path: on the right, i.e. crossing the stream and staying in the valley, you get to the Goslitz farm and back to the starting point at the Singerskogel.
Plan about 2-2.5 hours for the descent from the small Pyhrgas to the Singerskogel changing station.
The more demanding ascent to the summit requires sure-footedness and a head for heights.
Trail number: 616, 617
The Gowilalm is open from 1st May till 1st November.
