Due to the storm in August 2023, the hiking trail between Jagersimmerl and Almsee in Grünau im Almtal is closed and not passable!
As this exceptional situation entails major measures, it is not yet possible to estimate how long this situation will last, but certainly until spring 2024. Until then, unfortunately, it is only possible to walk along the L 549 "Almseestaße" from the Hetzau turn-off to the bridge over the Weißeneggbach, where you can return to the Almsee loop.

Riverside delights - “Genuss am Almfluss” is a walking tour through the Almtal valley
It takes you about 52 km through our unique valley from the “Almspitz” in Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, to Vorchdorf, Pettenbach, Scharnstein, Grünau i. A. to the tranquil lake Almsee.
On your way there more than 30 attractive wave sharped deckchairs to rest an big info points marked with ? and ! give you information and special tips about things and points in the area around.
For example: Scythe Museum Geyerhammer, there are Smithy demonstrations every 1st Saturday in the month at 3:00 p.m.
In all communities you will find an attractive active place for senses, like the hammock park in Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting.
Along the river you will find also 20 business partners offering traditionally culinary delights, authentic accommodations and history places.

How to get to the Almtal (to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting):
We recommend that you travel by public transport!
by train: to Wels station with IC trains on the Westbahn line (ÖBB and Westbahn) (line 101), then change to regional trains in the direction of Attnang-Puchheim to Lambach station. Change to the "Vorchdorfer Bahn" from Stern & Hafferl (line 160) to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting train station.
For the journey home from Grünau im Almtal with the Almtalbahn (line 153) again to Wels station with connection to the IC trains on the western railway line.
by bus:
OÖVV bus line 504 Wels - Lambach - Bad Wimsbach - Roitham
OÖVV bus route 533 Almsee - Grünau - Gmunden
with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 80 from Bad Wimsbach railway station to the Almspitz or for the journey home from the Almsee to Grünau im Almtal railway station with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service 60.
For both routes, call the taxi centre at least 1 hour in advance under the number 050-422 422 or order on the otaxi app.
by car:
Autobahn A1 Westautobahn exit 207 exit Vorchdorf at the roundabout - direction Lambach to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, approx. 7 km
Federal road B1 to Lambach - to Stadl Paura, there towards Vorchdorf to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting
